Marilys Nepomechie AR ‘83 and Marta Canavés, ASLA, are Professors of Architecture at FIU and co-curators of Miami 2100. Their design work has earned a National Honor Award in Urban and Regional Design–the highest distinction bestowed by the national chapter of the American Institute of Architects.The representatives of three international architectural design firms: Daniel Pittman, OMA [Rotterdam], Kai-Uwe Bergmann, BIG [Copenhagen] and Daniel Vasini, West 8 [Rotterdam] will present their entries to the recent HUD Rebuild by Design competition for Post-Sandy New York/New Jersey. They will also be invited to brainstorm possible approaches to designing a more resilient, even buoyant, South Florida in the face of sea level rise.
