The South Florida FIRST Robotics Competition on March 29-31, 2012.

+The inaugural South Florida Competition will be held at FAU in Boca Raton.

+The competition is a culmination of a six week effort.   Starting on January 7th, 46 high school teams (working with adult mentors) design, build and program 120 pound robots to compete in a high tech sporting event for the mind.   

+It’s as close to real world engineering as a high school student can get.

+The competition has all the energy and excitement of a championship basketball tournament.



How to be a part of the Competition

A. Become a Volunteer

+Serving as a FIRST volunteer will be an incredible experience.  

+See the creativity and commitment of these amazing student teams.

+Restore your faith in our American ability to meet the technical challenges of the 21st century.

+FIRST needs volunteers in a wide range of roles to successfully hold this South Florida event

+Now many choice roles are still available, find one that you will enjoy.

B.Become a Sponsor

+Sponsorships help underwrite the cost of the competition

+Sponsors names will be on the competition web site and in marketing materials

+Invitation to special sponsor VIP event

C.Become a Team Mentor

+Help a specfic team with various technical aspects of the competition

+Work with a high school student team and their teachers

+Get your company involved with a specific high school team

 

How to sign up as a Volunteer for the South Florida FIRST Robotics Competition

FIRST has an on-line registration system, which you can access at www.usfirst.org/vims.  

A. When you initially log on, you will be asked to create an account.  

B. After that is complete, you can then sign up to volunteer:  
Select program – FRC
Select State – Florida
Then click on search
Select FRC South Florida Regional
Select Apply for a role (see role description for details of the position) and follow the instructions.
On the left hand side of the screen please complete the information in About You and Expertise.
